Why Visit Zurich

Zurich's story begins with the Roman settlement of Turicum. The Altstadt's narrow lanes lead to the twin-towered Grossmünster, a Romanesque icon. Look for the colorful guild houses, or Zunfthäuser, that line the Limmat river, a testament to its merchant past. Fraumünster's Chagall windows offer a stunning modern contrast to the city's medieval core, showcasing a rich architectural blend.

When visiting Zurich, you'll find nature is never far. The Uetliberg mountain offers panoramic city views from 870 meters up. In summer, locals embrace "Badi-Kultur" by swimming in the clean Limmat river or Lake Zurich's designated lidos. These spots often transform into lively "Badi-Bars" after sunset, a unique urban experience.

Explore Zurich's culinary scene beyond fondue. Try Zürcher Geschnetzeltes, sliced veal in a creamy sauce, best enjoyed in a historic guild house. For a sweet treat, the iconic Luxemburgerli from Sprüngli are a local obsession. The Viadukt Market offers a modern taste of regional produce and artisan foods, reflecting the city's evolving palate.

A Clean and Beautiful City

Zurich is such an organized and beautiful place. It's so clean and everything runs perfectly on time. The mix of the old town and the modern city is great. Strolling along the Limmat River was a highlight. A really easy city to navigate.

Great for a Weekend Shopping Trip

Had a wonderful time exploring the shops. Bahnhofstrasse has all the high-end brands you could want, but the smaller boutiques in the Old Town were my favorite. It's pricey, but the quality is definitely there. Found some great chocolate too!

Amazing Views from Uetliberg

Taking the train up to Uetliberg mountain was totally worth it. The view of the city, the lake, and the snow-capped Alps in the distance was just incredible. It feels like you're so far from the city, but it's only a short ride away.

Loved the Old Town History

Zurich's Old Town (Altstadt) is fantastic for just walking around and getting lost in the narrow streets. The architecture is beautiful, especially the Grossmünster church. So much history in such a compact, walkable area. A very pleasant place.

So Peaceful by the Lake

Even in winter, the walk along Lake Zurich was beautiful. The water is crystal clear and the swans are everywhere. It's a very calm and relaxing part of the city. A great place to just unwind and take in the scenery. The whole city feels safe.

Cozy and Charming

Really enjoyed my time in the Niederdorf district at night. The little alleys are full of cozy restaurants and bars. We found a great place for some Zürcher Geschnetzeltes. It's a lovely area to spend an evening just soaking it all in.
